I use photography to approach the moment when visible reality begins to lose its certainty.
Every photograph begins with something that existed in front of the camera. This contact with reality is essential to my practice. At the same time, I am interested in how that reality can be altered through light, darkness, distance, framing, space, and deliberate digital adjustment. An ordinary subject can begin to lose its fixed meaning and take on another kind of presence.
My work often deals with silence, blackness, empty space, human absence, and the quiet tension surrounding objects and places. I am drawn to subjects that do not explain themselves easily: a structure standing in darkness, traces of human use, or a familiar space that has become slightly uncertain. I do not choose these subjects for narrative or documentation, but because they contain a pressure that cannot be easily named.
For me, photography is not simply a record of what was there. It is a way of making the visible world unstable enough for another presence to emerge. I try to bring the viewer to a point where recognition remains, but certainty begins to weaken.
What I seek is not an answer, but a quiet pull toward what cannot be fully known.
私は写真を、目に見える現実が少しずつ揺らぎ始める瞬間へ近づくための方法として使っています。
写真は、必ずカメラの前に存在したものから始まります。その現実との接触は、私にとって重要です。
しかし同時に、光、闇、距離、構図、空間、そしてデジタルによる微細な調整によって、
その現実がどのように変化していくのかに関心があります。
ありふれた対象が、固定された意味を失い、別の存在感を帯び始める瞬間があります。
私の作品では、沈黙、黒、余白、人間不在、そして物や場所のまわりに漂う静かな緊張を扱っています。
私が惹かれるのは、はっきりと説明できるものではありません。
暗闇の中に立つ構造物、人の使用の痕跡、見慣れているはずなのにどこか不確かな空間。
それらは物語や記録のために選ばれているのではなく、言葉にしにくい圧力を内側に持っているから選んでいます。
私にとって写真は、そこにあったものを記録するだけのものではありません。
見えている世界を少し不安定にし、その奥から別の気配が現れるための方法です。
私は、見る者が対象を認識しながらも、その確かさが少しずつ弱まっていく地点へ近づけたいと考えています。
私が求めているのは答えではなく、完全には知ることのできないものへ向かう静かな引力です。
